Pray Shield for Chrome · beta v1.0.0

Make a little room for prayer before the scroll.

Pray Shield for Chrome pauses the websites you choose during a prayer window, then gives you a short original prayer and a deliberate way back.

Pray Shield Chrome pause page with a short prayer and return controls

A small boundary

Three steps, kept local

01

Choose your domains

Select the sites you want to pause. Chrome asks for host permission only after you choose a domain.

02

Set a prayer window

Use morning, midday, evening, or night windows. Optional notifications are under your control.

03

Return with intention

Read a short prayer, then choose Amen or consciously skip. Your original page is ready when you return.

Pray Shield for Chrome · beta v1.0.0

What this beta does

  • Works on Chrome desktop; it does not sync with iPhone, iPad, or other browsers.
  • Stores settings and prayed/skipped completion timestamps in Chrome local storage; completion history is pruned after 45 days.
  • Includes 21 original prayers in both English and German for morning, midday, evening, night, peace, gratitude, and original Marian prayers in the rosary category—not a complete rosary library.
  • Open a prayer or briefly pause protection from the popup. Start a 15-minute focus period from the dashboard. The extension is intentionally bypassable: you can change settings, remove permissions, or disable it.

Download the Chrome beta

Install the beta manually

  1. Download the ZIP above and extract it to a folder you can keep.
  2. Open chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode.
  3. Choose Load unpacked, then select the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
  4. Pin the Pray Shield icon if you want quick access. Open the popup, select sites, and approve the requested host permission.

A clear limit

This is a self-control aid, not an unbreakable blocker. Scheduled redirects and optional notifications do not run after Chrome is closed. There is no account, payment, analytics, remote service, or Chrome Web Store listing yet. The return URL stays in the pause fragment and browser history; it is not sent to a server. User-clicked website and App Store links may carry attribution parameters and are governed by the linked site's own privacy policy.
